Carol J. Thurman of Boulder, CO, formerly of Aberdeen, SD, passed away due to natural causes on June 22, 2009. She was blessed to pass comfortably in the arms of her loving husband Jack, daughter Karen and son Mark at her bedside. Carol was born on February 14, 1931 to Anton and Barbara Meier in Mitchell, SD. She received her HS diploma at Notre Dame Academy. She went on to work as a Nurses Aid at St. Joseph and St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. Carol also worked as a secretary for the attorney Gorsuch. In Convair San Diego she worked as a secretary that assisted the F16 Jet Fighters. She went on to work as a secretary for General Dynamics and worked on the Atlas missile. Carol was the president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 10 and president of VFW Post 807. She also volunteered her time as a Cub Scout Den Mother. Carol married her beloved husband John "Jack" Thurman, retired Sergeant of the USMC, at Sacred Heart Church in Aberdeen, SD.

Carol is survived by her husband Jack; her children Steve Thurman, Linda Whorley, and MarkThurman and Karen Thurman; brothers Jim Meier and Father Denis Meier; sisters, Donna Ryman, JoAnn Hinman, and Maureen Detmer; grandchildren Audra Talamantes, Erin Bottenfield and Blair Thurman; great-grandchildren Kayla Talamantes and a baby boy due in September. She was preceded in death by her parents Barbara and Anton.

Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Pl., Boulder, CO 80301. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at St. Martin de Porres Church, 3300 Table Mesa Dr., Boulder, CO 80305. Father Denis Meier and Father Herman Jayachandra will officiate. Interment will follow at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO.
